Sluggish circuit training

This morning had circuit training on the schedule, and that’s a good thing because it was probably just what I needed to speed my recovery from my racing yesterday.

I felt really slow this morning, so I decided I would just use a level of effort that would allow me to complete the workout rather than trying to go fast.

I did the warm-up run to the track (1.6 miles) at a 9:19 pace and then the usual set of drills. This time, we had a new exercise added to the routine, which was a set of lower back lifts to balance out the sit-ups, so: step-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, back lifts, jumps, and lunges. The running portion was 800 meters again. I also left my watch running during the exercises so I could get my total time for the workout.

3:49 - 800m
3:14 - exercises
3:55 - 800m
3:16 - exercises
3:55 - 800m
2:44 - exercises
3:54 - 800m
3:00 - exercises
3:39 - 800m
2:31 - exercises

For the first couple times, before the crowds thinned out, there was a wait to get on the benches to do the step-ups. Compared to last time, these were a lot slower, but I did still make it around 5 times. I’m guessing that’s okay because I was still recovering from using more effort than usual the day before.

I did the run back at a really easy 9:45 pace, did a few stretches, and called it a day. Hopefully I’ll wake up feeling great tomorrow.
