Hill country riding
Today I had a really nice ride. I drove out to Blanco to meet a few people, and we rode our bikes to Luckenbach. It was just beautiful along the way. The route was mostly rolling hills, with a few pretty tough ones near the end, and there was very little traffic. We went at a pretty leisurely pace, and I enjoyed watching all the scenery.
Once we reached Luckenbach, we grabbed some snacks and rested outside for just a little while some guy sang and played the guitar. Honestly, I could have easily just sat there the rest of the day, but soon it was time to head back. I had carried sunscreen with me, so I applied another batch before setting out once again. I normally burn pretty well on these longish rides, but I think I did better than normal at avoiding it today. We’ll see tomorrow, I guess.
We ended up just coming back the same way we went there. The original plan was to wind around a longer loop on the way back, but we all agreed that today it would be better to just take the way that was a little shorter. It seemed tougher on the way back. There was a bit of a headwind, but overall I think we made better time on the way back than on the way out.
All in all, that was a really great ride. I’ll have to go do that again.
